I love mid-century modern Christmas decorations. Who doesn’t? All those gorgeous starbursts and onion-shaped baubles. My grandma had these gorgeous ornaments made out of brightly coloured see-through plastic and foil paper hanging on her Christmas tree when I was a child. I tried to track some down but with no luck, so I decided to do a tutorial on how to make them out of paper instead.

Materials:
Colours of choice paper
Pritt stick
Craft knife
Ruler
Cutting mat
Embroidery thread
Embroidery needle
Small puncher (I used a belt hole puncher)

Scissors1. Using the craft knife, cut a piece of paper that’s 8 cm long and 10.5 cm wide. Lengthwise roll it into a tube with a diameter of 1.5 cm and glue it together. The tube should be 8 cm long.
2. Out of contrasting coloured paper, cut another piece that’s 10.5 cm long and 6 cm wide. Lenghtwise cut strips 4 mm apart leaving 1 cm at the top and bottom intact. Carefully make sure that the strips are all separeted properly.
3. Starting at one end, glue the intact bit of the split piece of paper around one end of the paper tube. Repeat with the other end.
4. Punch two small holes at one end of the ornament and thread a piece of embroidery thread through the holes. Cut the thread and tie it into a loop so you can hang it on your Christmas tree.
Done.
